Pug; 
Used to catch the readers eye and placed in the top left or right hand corner of the cover.




Puff;
An incentive which is placed on the cover to make it stand out, usually in a shape such as a circle or 10-point star.

Film Poster Copy

In this task I attempted to recreate an existing film poster, with the original being on the right and my copy on the left. This enabled me to become familiar with Photoshop and the different tools and develop my skills on this program. Although, I found this task largely successful, I did find there were a few difficulties. These included finding the exact font or one that is reasonably similar. I felt this was extremely important to get right as it can change the whole tone of the poster. 

From this task I learnt many things such as the importance of placement of fonts and images and also the importance of using various fonts that compliment each other. This task really enabled me to have a really good first understanding of film posters that I will be able to take into consideration when I am creating my own poster.

Research into Thrillers

When researching Thrillers, the first thing that I did was create a spider diagram of words that I associate with a thriller. From this I derived a definition which was; an exciting, suspenseful, mystery story.













After researching what a thriller was, I then looked into the different sub genres that exist within a thriller. These included Action Thrillers (Die Hard), Crime Thrillers (The Usual Suspects), Film-Noir (sunset Boulevard), Sci-fi Thrillers (Aliens), Psychological Thrillers (Taxi Driver) and Religious Thrillers (The Da Vinci Code).
















After identifying the basics of a thriller, I then applied my knowledge to the opening of 'When A Stranger Calls'. When watching the film I made notes of the stereotypical conventions that were used in order to have a deeper understanding of what makes a thriller.
